Doterra Copaiba Essential Oil now available in Softgels

Copaiba Essential oil quickly took the world by storm when released by doterra at convention last year. It is a favorite to add topically for acute issues but people have also been using it internally because of all of its amazing benefits. People have always wondered what is a proper dosage. Doterra has taken the guess-work out of it and made it more convenient to use with the release of Copaiba essential oil softgels. Suggested use is one in the morning and one in the afternoon. I am sure you can figure out what works best for you.

Why is Copaiba Oil becoming so Popular with CBD oil users?

CBD (medical marijuana) contains the cannabinoids THC and CBD. CBD Interacts with our CB2 receptors and gives us amazing therapeutic benefits, including: Pain Relief, decreased inflammation, reduced anxiety, neurological support, cardiovascular health, and better insulin responses. CB2 receptors improve immunity, reduce inflammation, and relieve certain types of pain. THC is the controversial componenet that interacts with our CB1 receptors which causes the high associated with marijuana. CBD oil from hemp contains only trace amounts of THC and is legal in all 50 states. CBD oil does not make you high. CBD oil helps neurological issues, pain and more by indirectly interacting with CB2 receptors in the body.

What makes Copaiba so awesome is that it contains the cannabinoid BCP (Beta-Carophyllene). BCP gives the therapeutic effect of Cannabis Oil (CBD) without any psychotropic side effects. BCP affects the CB2 receptors and is much more concentrated. CBD ranges from 2 to 35% depending on how it is derived. Doterra’s special blend of Copaiba is the only one to contain 4 types of copal resin to create an oil with 60% BCP . BCP has been extensively studied on its ability to modulate the body’s response to inflammation. It activates cannabinoid receptors that calm the mind and trigger a powerful natural response to inflammation.  The beautiful thing is it will never show up on a drug test or make you high. Copaiba essentail oil much less expensive than CBD and 100% drug-free with no risk of containing THC and 100% legal. DoTERRA extensively tests all products, including third-party testing and guarantees all oils are oils free of pesticides, heavy metals, and contaminants.

5 reasons Copiaba essential oil is better than CBD oil:

copaiba essential oilThere is a lot of hype around CBD oil, and for good reason. Cannabinoids are potent and have wide-ranging impacts on our health. However, legality, purity and potency get in the way of seeing these benefits. Here are five reasons to get excited about doTERRA’s new Copaiba essential oil and the phyto-cannabinoid beta-carophyllene!

You might not have known this, but many over the counter medications rely on the cannabinoid receptors to relieve your aches and pains. For example, when Tylenol is chewed up and metabolized by your body, it turns into the “active metabolite” which enhances the normal activation of your body’s endocannabinoid receptors. These receptors govern many of our body’s key systems and have wide ranging impacts on our health.

1. Healing our body without the complications
Cannabidiol (CBD) has shown significant impacts on human health and interacts directly with CB1 and CB2, but the interaction is so weak as to be negligible. There is a growing body of work figuring out all of the molecular mechanisms are, but for now its relationship status to the receptors is “complicated”. Contrast that with beta-carophyllene (BCP), it has many of the same health benefits as other cannabinoids but without binding to the CB1 receptors in the brain like the THC in marijuana.

2. We know how BCP’s work, and they work well!
The CB2 receptors are found throughout the body and have wide impacts on health. BCPs bind to these receptors and have a mountain of evidence to backup their: support against temporary inflammation, easing tension and discomfort, providing protective effects on kidney and liver systems, provide protection against auto-immune disruptions, easing anxious and depressive feelings and even helping to abstain from unhealthy habits such as alcohol dependance!
CB2 activation is correlated with the concentration of BCP’s and CBD oil is 35% BCP while Copaiba is 55%. This means that even if you are using high quality cannabis oil, it may be the BCP’s that are doing all the work in easing your health issues and you could switch to Copaiba and get even more relief.
There is no THC in Copaiba which means that it won’t give you a false positive on a drug test. In fact, BCP’s are in plenty of other foods and even other essential oils but nowhere near these concentrations or purity.
To get the amazing benefits of BCP from the Copaiba essential oil, you can use it aromatically by diffusing, applying it topically to affected areas or internally. My favorite use is to apply it under the tongue to calm down before sleeping.

3. Purity and potency.
With doTERRA’s extensive 3rd party and open source testing, you know that the product won’t contain any pesticides or heavy metals and that you will get reproducible results. The CBD oil produced from hemp might not actually have much CBD while those derived from marijuana might contain THC or heavy metals, depending on the soil it was grown in and extraction techniques employed.

4. Cost

If you want access to the health benefits of cannabinoids, a 15ml bottle of Copaiba only costs $35 with a wholesale membership (~60 cents per dosage). That is a huge discount compared to a 15ml bottle CBD oil from reputable brands which cost $120 or more!

5. Legal and available right now!
The best part is that you can buy it right now from doTERRA, 100% legal in all 50 states. Check it out on this site https://www.doterra.com/US/en/site/peace.

DIY Homemade Glass Cleaner

In my quest to lower the amount of toxins in my home, I decided to try making glass cleaner when my bottle of store bought glass cleaner ran out. I came across this recipe and was rather pleased with it. It worked just as well as the store bought. I have found recipes that either have dish soap or cornstarch as the last ingredient. I don’t think one works better than the other. Here is the recipe:

Fight facial blemises naturally with essential oils

Today there are many popular acne treatment products hitting the media and gaining popularity. I avoid them because of their cost and the undesirable ingredients found in most of them. I am already exposed to enough toxic ingredients in my daily life and don’t see the logic of buying bottles of the stuff and lathering it all over my body. Fortunately I found a few ways to treat facial blemishes with natural ingredients that I make myself at home.

if i’m going to own 1 doterra oil which one should it be?

I get asked this question a lot. Luckily, it has an easy answer: Lavender. Lavender is a universal go to oil. When you don’t know what oil to use, go with Lavender. Image

Lavender essential oil has soothing, calming, and restorative properties. The essential oil is antiseptic, cooling and mild. Considered the universal oil, lavender is readily used neat, or undiluted, and combines well with almost all other oils for a wide variety of benefits. Many aromatherapists say lavender is the first essential oil to get.

Lavender Essential Oil Physical Benefits and Effects:

  • Skin care – especially dry or acne prone skin
  • Headaches – rub a drop or two on the temples for tension migraine relief.
  • Burns – The cooling, soothing and skin restorative effects are good for anti-inflammatory sunburn care. Documented use as an emergency care for heatstroke until medical personnel can arrive.
  • Insect Repellent/Bites and Stings – Repel bugs and takes the sting away from bites.
  • Blood Pressure and Heart – Soothes heart palpitations and lowers blood pressure because of anti-stress properties
  • Congestion/Asthma – Anti-spasmodic and anti-inflammatory effects make lavender good for respiratory support. Suitable for use with children as well.
  • Dandruff – Stimulating and moisturizing effects help with hair shine and dry scalp.

Lavender Mental/Psyche Effects:

  • Anti-Stress – Calming and soothing effects help counteract stress hormones
  • Antidepressant – Lavender is a well-documented antidepressant essential oil.
  • Refreshing and Uplifting – Can help balance mood swings and PMS symptoms
  • Insomnia – A mild sedative effect for restless or anxious nights

Precautions for Using Lavender: There are very few precautions with the use of lavender essential oils, and the greatest concern would be to make sure a high-quality essential oil is procured. It is one of the most commonly corrupted oils, so if lavender essential oil is available at a very cheap price, chances are it is tainted and not suitable for home health use!

Make your own deodorant with essential oils

For those of you that know me well, I struggled to find a deodorant with all natural ingredients that worked will enough to keep me from being stinky.  After trying several expensive all natural deodorants and not being happy with them, I came across a recipe for making my own deodorant. It is easy, lasts a long time, and I don’t stink! Here is a general recipe:

1/2 cup coconut oil

1/4 cup arrowroot powder or cornstarch

1/4 cup baking soda

10-15 drops of favorite Doterra essential oil ( I use lavender or purify)

Mix all ingredients together. Store in small container with lid. Scoop out marble size amount and apply to underarm with finger.

The great think about using an essential oil in this recipe is because the oils help to fight bacteria, which is what makes a person stink in the first place. Citrus essential oils are also great to use. The coconut oil also does a great job with that. It works super without the added essential oil.

If you need extra absorbing power, you can add extra baking soda or cornstarch. Cornstarch absorbs moisture and baking soda controls odor. If you find that this mixture irritates your skin, try adding 1/4 cup of shea butter to to moisturize and soothe your skin. It might help to melt the shea butter, then add the other ingredients to it. If the mixture makes you itchy, decrease amount of baking soda.

Why go thru all the trouble instead of using the deodorant filled with aluminum-based compounds and parabens sold at the local grocery store? Here is a quote from  National Cancer Institute’s website:

Aluminum-based compounds are used as the active ingredient in antiperspirants. These compounds form a temporary plug within the sweat duct that stops the flow of sweat to the skin’s surface. Some research suggests that aluminum-based compounds, which are applied frequently and left on the skin near the breast, may be absorbed by the skin and cause estrogen-like (hormonal) effects. Because estrogen has the ability to promote the growth of breast cancer cells, some scientists have suggested that the aluminum-based compounds in antiperspirants may contribute to the development of breast cancer. Some research has focused on parabens, which are preservatives used in some deodorants and antiperspirants that have been shown to mimic the activity of estrogen in the body’s cells.

Make your own toothpaste out of essential oils

A few weeks ago, after I ran out of toothpaste, I didn’t want to use my husband’s toothpaste that contains flouride, so I started wondering if I could make some homemade toothpaste. I already make homemade deodorant and love it. Low and behold I came across this:

I made a few modifications to the recipe. I used non-GMO xylitol instead of Stevia.  I also used doterra peppermint oil because I am going to use this in my mouth and want to make sure it is a pure oil.

Here is some great info as to why I don’t use the toothpaste that they sale at the grocery store:

THE BODY’S SUPERHIGHWAY
The mouth and gums are the superhighway to EVERY system in your body. Everything that goes into your mouth stays in your body…even if not ingested. As well as absorbing oral bacteria, your gums absorb each and every chemical that is included as “ingredients” in our commercial toothpastes and mouthwashes.
Having a healthy mouth is a major key to assisting your body in maintaining overall health.

Many toothpaste ingredient lists read like a hardware stores’ glue isle – *Benzoic acid *Dyes *Preservatives/Flavours *Artificial additives Blue #1 Yellow #5 *FD & C colourants *Saccharine *Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is the same detergent compound found in hair shampoo and foaming wash products – would you ever consider just using detergent to wash your mouth out?

Deleting Sodium Lauryl Sulfate from your body is a great start to improving the workings of your body. The responsibility of knowing what is safe; what should or should not be soaking through our tissues is ours, and using the healthiest possible dental products available to you is one of the most effective ways of reducing chemical overload.

Why not try making your own toothpaste?
Using coconut oil as a mouth wash?
If you still find that you have a breath that is less than fresh, you may need to investigate your dietary intake, and address a possible issue with the health of the gut.
